1983
Kikkoman Corporation established Kikkoman (S) Pte. Ltd. (KSP) in Singapore to supply more high-quality products to some of the company's largest overseas markets: South East Asia, Australia and other Pacific nations. After establishing this enterprise, Kikkoman leased an 18,000-square-meter industrial site in the Woodlands East Industrial Estate from the government of Singapore. In August 1983, the company began constructing a new production facility on the site, and a ground-breaking ceremony was held the following month. The completion of the facility in July 1984 was celebrated with a push-button ceremony that signalled the beginning of Kikkoman Soy Sauce production in Singapore.
In 1994 KSP achieved the ISO9002 certification in September, making Kikkoman, the first soy sauce company in the world to achieve this award. In 1996, KSP increased its production capacity to 10,000 kilolitres, three times the plant's original production capacity. With the opening of Europe plant in 1997, KSP terminated its sales to Europe. In 1998, the company achieved its Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Certification (HACCP). In 2002, KSP leased 6,000 square meters for expansion. Total area expanded to 24,000 square meters. KSP plans to increase the plant's production capacity to 20,000 kilometers per year. KSP also achieved ISO 14001 certification on 8th September 2002. In 2007, KSP received certification for ISO 22000.
Kikkoman is confident that the facility will continue to expand the company's presence in the soy sauce market while maintaining the traditional quality that is the hallmark of Kikkoman Soy Sauce.
