In 1946, a small workshop named Yoshida Ironworks started producing and repairing drilling machines and equipment used for exploration of the Karatsu Coal Mine. As a result of Japan's economical growth, YBM has consolidated as a manufacturer of machines and tools for the civil engineering, construction, mineral resources exploration, hot spring surveying and development, and manufactures drilling tools for the Geothermal, Oil and Gas exploration industries. In the year 1996, Yoshida Boring Machine Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was Renamed YBM Co., Ltd. in celebration of the company's 50th anniversary.
