In Japan the new company Sojitz Corporation started its operation on April 1, 2004 after merger of Nichimen Corporation and Nissho Iwai Corporation.

Following the merger, PT. Sojitz Indonesia will work to improve profitability by enhancing collective strengths and pursuing business synergies. At the same time, the new company will reinforce operating and financial strength by securing flexibility through increased business reorganization, rationalization, and promotion of management efficiency to become an innovative and functional trading company.
