In 1983, a leading Singaporean construction service company in the power and energy industries, namely Asia Projects Engineering Pte. Ltd. (APECO), opened its representative office in response to the infrastructural needs of Indonesia. By working together with local partner, APECO has been actively promoting its expertise in Indonesia ever since.

Several major projects in the power and energy industries were successfully completed under this arrangement.

With the initial success of APECO in Indonesia, PT. APECO KENCANA was established in 1995 (by Asia Projects Engineering Pte. Ltd and PT. Jaya Kencana) , as an Indonesian-based installation and construction company to server the power industry plants, as well as other turn-key projects.
